Using two empty 2L soda bottles, water, glitter, and tape, one can create a miniature tornado in a bottle. The empty bottle is placed upside down on the bottle containing water and glitter. Tape is wrapped around the middle of the bottles to secure them. By quickly spinning the joined bottles, the water and glitter will swirl and form a tiny tornado in the top bottle. Tornadoes in the real world form when winds move in opposite directions, causing the air to spin both horizontally and vertically as warm air rises and cold air sinks.
